The Benefit Concert of the Archdiocesan Caritas Prague has a long tradition; it takes place every year on October 31st in the Smetana Hall of the Municipal House in cooperation with the Prague Symphony Orchestra (FOK). Helping people in need who are assisted by the Caritas professional social services brings more than a thousand people of goodwill to the largest concert hall in Prague every year.
The 32nd annual concert will feature works by Czech composers. In the first part of the concert, the Liberec Children’s Choir Severáček will perform under the direction of Silvie Langrová. The choir has gained a reputation not only in the Czech Republic but also abroad during its six decades of existence. It has won numerous awards in domestic and international competitions. Severáček is a regular guest at the Prague Spring and other major music festivals.
For the 32nd Archdiocesan Charity Benefit Concert, Severáček will present a selection from its repertoire, including folk songs and works by Czech composers (Josef Mysliveček, Ilja Hurník, and others).
In the second part of the concert, a selection from Antonín Dvořák’s Slavonic Dances will be performed by the Prague Symphony Orchestra (FOK) under the baton of chief conductor Tomáš Brauner. The Prague Symphony Orchestra is one of the most important musical ensembles in the Czech Republic.
The 32nd Archdiocesan Charity Benefit Concert is under the patronage of Prague Archbishop Mons. Jan Graubner. 100% of the ticket price will support the Archdiocesan Charity of Prague’s public collection to help people in difficult life situations.
