A year ago, on 24 February 2022, the Russian war against Ukraine erupted, spurring a wave of refugees bound for other countries, including the Czech Republic. Since the beginning of the crisis, Caritas of the Archdiocese of Prague has taken part in providing relief to people fleeing the warzone.

An extraordinary event in the recent history of Caritas of the Archdiocese of Prague transpired during this year’s National St. Wenceslas Pilgrimage in Stará Boleslav. Pope Francis rewarded the Director and Deputy Director of Caritas of the Archdiocese of Prague for their lasting professional work in assisting the needy. The decoration was delivered by Archbishop of Prague and Primate of Czechia Jan Graubner.

The 2019 school year has begun in Zambia. Sarah Mwale, a young inventor from Solwezi went back to school after the Christmas holiday at home. She already completed her first year at Mukinge secondary school, the all girls’ boarding school at Kasempa district. She did well yet again in another competition for young inventors. Sarah is an orphan, she is being brought up by her grandmother and her studies are sponsored by donors from the Czech Republic.
