Night of Churches Inaugurated by Archbishop Jan Graubner in Caritas Church of St. Cajetan

The Church of the Virgin Mary, Mother of Perpetual Help, and St. Cajetan, run by the Caritas of the Archdiocese of Prague, was the first venue visited by Mons. Jan Graubner during this year’s Night of Churches. The appearance of Prague’s Archbishop served as the symbolic launch of the 15th annual edition of the event, which provides members of the general public with an opportunity to visit more than 1,800 houses of worship throughout the Czech Republic.

Situated in the heart of Prague on Nerudova Street in the district of Lesser Town, the Caritas church accommodated no fewer than 5,500 visitors, who were treated to a performance of famous opera arias, a detailed presentation of the church’s history, an exhibition of items made by clients of The Home of the Holy Family, and a tasting of sacramental wines of both domestic and foreign provenience. The evening was hosted by popular television presenter Vladimír Kořen.

The 2023 Night of Churches was symbolically inaugurated by Archbishop Jan Graubner in the Caritas Church of St. Cajetan. He explained to the visitors the church’s purpose in the life of each individual person.

Mons. Graubner subsequently joined the public in savoring a concert featuring opera singers soprano Petra Alvarez Šimková and Mexican tenor Rafael Alvarez.

The audience was charmed by opera arias sung by Mr. and Mrs. Alvarez- Rossini’s arias.

The pinnacle of the program was a performance delivered by soprano extraordinaire Lucie Silkenová, with trumpet played by Jiří Krýsl.

The evening was hosted by television presenter and supporter of Caritas of the Archdiocese of Prague Vladimír Kořen. His distinction, kindness, and sense of humor served as an estimable contribution to the great success of the event.

A tasting of sacramental wines of Czech and international provenience complemented the congenial atmosphere.
