An extraordinary event in the recent history of Caritas of the Archdiocese of Prague transpired during this year’s National St. Wenceslas Pilgrimage in Stará Boleslav. Pope Francis rewarded the Director and Deputy Director of Caritas of the Archdiocese of Prague for their lasting professional work in assisting the needy. The decoration was delivered by Archbishop of Prague and Primate of Czechia Jan Graubner.
Director of Caritas of the Archdiocese of Prague JAROSLAV NĚMEC has been appointed Knight of the Papal Order of St. Gregory the Great. This way, the Holy Father has rewarded Mr. Němec for his far-reaching, generous, and professional contribution to the development of Caritas of the Archdiocese of Prague as well as for initiating numerous projects to benefit the poor and underprivileged, both in the Czech Republic and beyond its borders.
Pope Francis has also rewarded Deputy Director of Caritas of the Archdiocese of Prague PAVEL ŠIMEK by conferring thereon the Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice decoration for lasting, generous, and professional work at Caritas of the Archdiocese of Prague, for developing numerous projects to benefit the needy, both inside and outside the Czech Republic, and for ongoing involvement in the Catholic Church’s evangelistic and missionary activities.
Caritas‘ work has been rewarded by another decoration, specifically the Medal of Bishop Antonín Podlaha bestowed by Mons. Jan Graubner on JARMILA LOMOZOVÁ for her many years of devoted service at the head office of Caritas of the Archdiocese of Prague.
„I am pleased to be able to express gratitude to Caritas‘ workers who embody the willingness to accept God’s love and allow it to serve the needy, to live the faith that the poor and underprivileged are the image of Jesus Christ himself,“ said Mons. Graubner upon delivering the award.
„One who is gracious to a poor man lends to the Lord, And He will repay him for his good deed.“ (Proverbs 19:17)
